Special Inspections/Third-Party Inspections
Norton & Schmidt Consulting Engineers has served as Special Inspectors on numerous construction projects. The special inspector, at the site, verifies that key structural elements of the project are constructed in accordance with the design documents. Structural elements that require special inspections are identified by the Building Code, the Engineer-of-Record and the Building Code Official. Responsibilities of the Special Inspector include in-plant inspections, observation of construction methods, procurement and supervision of testing services, review of test results, daily and bi-weekly reporting, notification of unacceptable work, and review/follow-up of repairs. The Special Inspector’s Final Report is the client’s assurance of a building that complies with the municipality-approved design documents.
